Ponderosa Engineering was founded in 2022 by Trevor Choate after moving to beautiful Pagosa Springs and recognizing the need for a truly local, licensed structural engineer. His aim is to be an advocate to those he serves. You will not find anyone more qualified, caring and diligent to assist you with your projects. Throughout his career he has built solid relationships with architects and builders to ensure your project is as seamless as possible from start to finish.

Trevor obtained his masters degree in structural engineering from the University of Texas in Austin after graduating number one in his class at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He honed his craft working for the top firms in Colorado and was trained by the best engineers in the state while earning his Professional Engineering license.

Originally from Texas, he has happily called Colorado home since 2016. Trevor and his wife, Danielle, are excited to raise their family in the mountains of southwest Colorado. Teaching his kids about the outdoors, sports and the art of smoking and grilling meats is his life's greatest work. When Trevor isn't working or hanging out with his family, he is diligently learning all that he can about elk and practicing his archery skills.
